Hey Brian- I like it! The super low center of gravity is a really good thing. I want to try and do the same sort of thing with Kart #2. The only concern I have is that the weight of the engine will put a lot of stress on that flat crossmember and may cause some substantial flexing, which will cause chains to come off. I speak from experience, as our original design for the engine mount and rear crossmember did this and caused us fits, until we just welded it all solid in desperation one day at Dennis' house. You may consider adding some sort of upper engine mount or some other contingency plan that could tie-in to the seat back or body in some way in the future (if needed) to stiffen things up a bit. Looking good though buddy.

Brian-- I have a lot of the 1" square tubing left over to make a nice engine support bracket. Tom is giving you good advice the motor mount plate has to be very stiff with NO FLEX because that is just why chains do not stay on the axle. And the jackshaft must be perfectly parallel to the axle. We normally will cut a piece of steel to the exactly length we measure and slide it along the axle to the jackshaft and make sure they are parallel because side load will also wear and throw sprockets quickly. We are back in business on Monday for that second and third opinion. Have a Happy New Year.Jim

Thanks Jim ,In the pictures on my updated post you can see the new layout. I have ordered the engine plate, gear, and chain. So when it arrives I can see how it will all fit together.
