The problem is more how do I attach them together. And then how do I attach it to the kart. I don't do tig welding alu. Pop rivets I don't like. Real rivets a option if available I beleave they are. Henny

Looks good to me. I'd say why not pop rivets?

Looks really good Henny..You could use pop rivets and just fill them..Thats my plan..

Brian I am probably not gonna paint it so then they wil stick out like sore thump even when filled. I am gonna test a spot welding trick I saw on the net. If you sandwich your peace between steel you can spot weld alu. At least that's what the video showed.Henny

HennyI was thinking about How to join the top and side pieces without rivets and remembered seeing a grooved flat lock seam. Can't post a picture here but you can look up on web. Don't know if it will work for this applicationJust a thought.

i decided on making the top panel hinged and not connected to the sides, a bit like a normal car hood. i will fold the bottom edge over once. i looked up the flatlock seam. its cerntainly doable but not on this panel. Not for me anyway i am an amateur. Henny

Hello Henny, Great work until now and promissing process! (I thought that you are just wood-work boat-builder master, but your metal-shaping work is magnificent, too) Ciao, Zoran P.S.: If I am allowed to say this?

Zoran maybe I'am a better photographer. I wish I had a planishing hammer you know electric or however they work. An English wheel wouldn't have done it for this one. Besides we only have an English wheel for ships hull plating. And all the knowledge comes from the net. I am not that good but I have plenty of time.

...some people judge quality of work in FEET! (could be used meters instead) ... that means: what is distance between photographer and object needed to take photo and work should still looks fine! so, maybe 10 feet here? not bad at all for the start of metal-shaping! ... ... will you let metal shining or plan to put some paint after finishing? many times I watched masters how shape metal just with hand-tools! the best master - it looked to me simpler and easier! never dareed to try that. just a few simple things (steel parts on automobiles that we reconstucted) ... zoran

Can I ask what is the thickness of the metal you're using for the body work? I assume it's aluminum.
