You guys have to excuse me. I got myself a cheapy English wheel. So I can teach myself a new skill. Here are some pictures of the progress and the wheel. I can tell you here is a lot of learning to do. To make the right movements in one supple go. Keeping the panel level. And the more it's start to shine. The more you see the the imperfection, you just rolled in. But it's fun.

The panel is mainly formed by shrinking. I use shrinking forks to pull the tuck in the metal, and a flat wooden stump to hammer it flat. I suggest looking at some YouTube videos on sheet metal shrinking.

I have been practicing on some scrap alloy, with shrinking the sheet metal I think maybe that I can pull it of. So as a good boat builder, I speared out my tail by eye and a piece of plastic used for spearing out stuff.

On this panel I had to roll a bead. Folding it over on the backside of the panel, wouldn't have worked. I hope the pictures wil explain. I block the thin alloy rod with a piece of wood and some clamps. Started in the middle where I had a straight line. The rod was only lying against the wood. And then gently tap the panel edge around the rod. In the bend part you take smaller steps with the short side of wood block like in the picture.

The car was build with mainly me in mind. And since there's an eleven year old driving. It needed a better more comfortable seating arrangement for smaller persons. I still have to design a locking system. For the time being a piece of wood behind it wil lock it in.

I want to do this in one casting all four tabs with a backplate. And a thougher two component rubber. But less tab and more rubber.
And maybe some room for the rubber to go to when compressed by the torque of the engine, or brake. As not to push the assembly apart. this wil need some experimenting. I would keep the woodblock though. Maybe time to play with the backyard foundry. And visit the seller of chemical stuff. For some info on rubber. The net tells me something suitable is out there. You can also observe the poor qualitiy of the laminate but if I seal the edges nobody will be the wiser. It's strong enough for its purpose. And I hope I can hammer the plate over it. First on purpose build dolly or anvil in the round part and on the edge of the steel table for the straight part.

It works better if you give full rudder and then flip it sideways. But with hindsight I don't need it yet. It.s a bit wobbly but it has no play in it steering wise. I think this is one I am going to change for a more period correct one. But first finish the body till it's covered in aluminum So far as the wood goes now. The tail I might do later in only metal with compound curves. All to be beaten out on a wooden stump. With a dish shape in it. Tons of stuff about it on YouTube.

Trying out some fairing not yet glued with d4 highest rated polyurethane glue. I think the back is allright. Maybe the front wil need epoxy. Also d4 the highest rated but better for filling shitty workmanship. Certainly no polyester from which the fumes tend to go into your brains when your work for years in that industries. Epoxy on the other hand although you can't smell it is more toxic.

I just took the Bugatti t37 for a spin. It seems to work well. It just flies off like a bat out of hell. I made a mistake buying my axle sprocket 72 tooth versus a 10 tooth on the cvt. The private parking lot isn't big enough to reach full speed. It has a 20 km speed limit too. But crossing the public road ( illegal) from our parking lot to the one across the street, which goes around a building. I put the pedal to the wood. Even the fact that I forgot to weld in the castor in my front axle setup, didn't affect the steering in a hugely negative way. I didn't let my hands of the wheel though, to see if it would go straight. To chicken i guess. Later when I take it apart for panting I will fix the castor. Today I made the cardboard pattern for the hood. and bought a piece of 2 mm alloy. I will post images later, because I am a complete computer nitwit and somebody has to show me how again.
