After a new valve and an hour of trying to take the bolts out I have a new heating valve installed,,, and glad if it now its getting colder as I now have heat on demand in the car! Small victories every day ! Oh and so far no leaks !

Tick Tick Tick Gone!

Today was the first day since college I done valve clearance….. came back to me very quickly…
So after my first month with my MG with the ticking from the valves I took the plunge and set them to 0.15mm. Really surprised at the results as it was so quiet,,,, can hear other noises now so they will need investigating but really chuffed with my efforts.
Seems I may now also need to check the timing as idle is very low even when changing in carbs, plus a nice gentleman stoped by walking his dog and says it sounds like I needed to advance the timing a little… he used to have a similar car and after days messing about with the mixture it turned out to be timing…

Next stop Timing
Then I saw this video on YouTube about setting the mixture and the guy had some kit that glows blue and not yellow when the mixture is good and not to rich…

Squeaking On Turn

Today I’ll be taking a look at the front brakes as I get a squeaking noise upon turning,,, plus I noticed a little restraint when rolling the other day after a short drive…. Hopefully nothing serious….

Ran Out Of Fuel

So a trip out with the wife the other day ended up with a call to the father in law for some petrol. Turns out the gauge said 1/2 tank but was stuck….

Today I found out that the float had somehow disconnected from the houseing hence the gauge stuck at 1/2 tank… this is what I found….

Fixed by hammering the round end square so it doesn’t slide out again ….

Quick Trip Out To Find Wet Carpet

Today had to make a quick trip out to the post office with the stunning and very beautiful wife… whilst she was dropping off the parcel I saw wetness on the passenger floor matts. After lifting them the carpet was soaked !
Well we got home and I got the wet and dry vacuum out and hovered it up, lifting the carpets out, I could not see where the water was coming in from. It is rain water as it chucked down but I don’t know if it’s come in off the road from a previous drive where it rained or draining off into the car…
I’ve left a chamois on the metal floor over night tonight as we are due more rain so the morning should tell me where it’s not coming from……

Bit Of A Rattle

Well today I took the beast out for a drive and started to get a rattle noise when I initially pulled away, stoped about 2k revs and was fine between changing gears. I’ve No ideas what it is, so investigations start after work Friday…
Did get a squeaking noise with lights on also but turning them off and back on seemed to in the short term stop it… looking like I need to tighten up the drive belt…

Tightened up the drive belt and all is good again !????????

Hi yes wing guards checked all ok think I found the problem was the small coned shaped metal under the gear knob was looselol Tightened it and not had it since,,,, omg lol
