Enjoying A Sunny Day

The weather in Northeast Ohio today is perfect for cleaning and driving both my 1976 B and 1993 Mercury Capri Convertible.

The MG has been running great for the last 2 and half months since my restoration has been completed. There are a few small projects I plan to do over the next few months including adjusting the rear brake drums and trying to fix a pesky oil leak from the rear portion of the oil pan.

British Car Day Show 2013 - Solon Ohio

Took my MG to its first car show since the restoration was completed last month. The show was the 36th Annual British Cars Day sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Austin Healey Club. The weather turned out to be perfect with clear skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There was an excellent turn out of all British makes, even a cool Bond Bug and Mini Moke.

Radio Project - Speaker Placement

In choosing my radio for my MG B, I decided I wanted to use the original dealer set up for the radio. The car came with an aftermarket Koss CD player in the radio console and speakers cut into the door panels.

I purchased and original British Leyland (Bendix) radio from eBay and mounted it in the radio console. Instead of cutting up my new door card, I decided to mount the speakers in the map pocket on the passenger inner well. Since the radio is AM/FM mono, the one speaker works fine. I purchased JVC 4" 2 way speakers from Crutchfield. The depth is only 1 3'4" inch so they fit perfect.
