“Wedgie”
Convertible w/navy leather interior. Bored 0.060" over, 10:1 compression, Crower 206i/212e cam with 0.450" lift, mild head porting, Pertronix, and stock exhaust manifolds. Bare metal respray in original platinum color.

Currently running VERY well with modified ZS CD175 carbs, K&N filters, original intake manifold, and all emissions gear operational. Custom dual exhaust, poly bushings throughout. 20 MPG on the highway vs. EPA rating of 15 MPG combined. Easily passes emissions tests. I estimate 175 HP with current setup vs 135 HP stock. Idles smoothly, starts on first twist of the key every time.

Heater repaired during winter of 2017. Epoxied pinhole in coolant pipe to heater matrix. Converted evaporator to R134a refrigerant. Replaced flat Tex mirror with convex mirror on passenger side.Converted brake lights to LEDs, adds 100mSec extra warning (9 feet @ 60 MPH). Safety first.

Repaired clock with WD40 and a small adjustment of balance weights. Actually keeps time within about 5 min/week.

Next projects: Add factory A/C to car, including factory twin electric fans and R134 Freon. I have acquired all the parts, just need to put them in and charge the system.

Very nice Vance, Maybe prejudice though because mine is similar but still wearing original, though not so spectacular paint and my seats are done in vinyl. - Pete

Your restoration looks great, but after seeing photo of bare car for respray, wondering how difficult it was to remove and reinstall the wiring harness? Did you put in a new harness? Did you use Autosparks harness? I am contemplating biting the bullet and repainting my car, but to do it properly, I would have to strip it down like you did.

I kept the original harness, as it required only minimal repairs to be in good condition. It takes a bit of fiddling, but removal and reinstallation are straight forward. I do recommend using HARNESS ties (not zip ties) when reinstalling the wiring harness - Available from McMaster Carr and others.
