“Gurney Formerly "Putster”
The below information was supplied by the previous owner, Justin Ranavaro. I'm leaving it as is as he did a fine job in his description.

1974 MGB 4.3L V8

Engine: 1963 Olds 215 V8 bored .040 over, stroked with '64 Buick 300 Crank, Chevy 2.8 pistons, Crower 50232 Cam, Edelbrock 500 4bbl Carb, RV8 Style Headers, 2 1/4" dual exhaust, electric cutouts, Thrush Turbo mufflers and Monza twin tip resonators.

Drive Train: 1989 WCT5 close ratio 5 speed transmission, (5th changed to 0.6:1 ratio for nice highway cruising). Custom drive shaft, 1978 Jeep DANA 44 rear axle - 3.73 Posi with Wilwood Disc brakes. (4 wheel power discs)

Interior: Pontiac Fiero Seats, Datsun 260Z Gauges, power window and door locks from Chrysler Cordoba

Extras: OEM V8 Radiator, 18 Gallon gas tank from AMC Eagle, hood louvers from Datsun 260Z and OEM Hard Top. Front Shock performance valves with 1" lower/stiffer GT rally coil springs, Converted Tube Rear shocks with 1" Lower/stiffer GT rally leaf springs with Cal-Trac traction bars. Konig 15x7 rims (gunmetal mini-lite like) with 205/60R15 tires.

I found this car online and currently have 2 v6 conversions and somehow convinced the wife getting this beauty will be a good idea.
Now comes the hard part of deciding which v6 conversion goes since I only have 2 indoor spots that my wife let's me use.

Last owner changed out cam, lifters, lost interest and never put back together. Will soon be repaired by my trusty mg mechanic (Brian's automotive of peekskill ny) and hopefully on the road in a few weeks updates to follow

Wow -- I'm sure the car is super fast -- but how does it drive? I mean what is the weight distribution? The MGC was a total failure because the V6 made it pig to drive. I'm assuming the hood actually closes? Ever timed it 0 to 60?

Hi Glenn, The stock engine and trans, complete with intake, carbs, exhaust manifold, starter, alternator, and even shifter lever ---> 468 pounds. The fully dressed Olds215 with T5 (5 speed) transmission ---> 443 pounds. My setup also includes, fiberglass front fenders, front rubber bumper delete, added the Dana 44 rear (slightly heavier than the stock rear). According to the truck scale my local dump has, my car is 2250 lbs with me and a full tank of gas. Weight distribution of my setup is 1123lbs front/1127 rear (on that truck scale - with just the front or rear wheels on the scale - somewhat subjective measurement).Coupled with early GT rally springs ( 1" lower and stiffer), the stiffer shock valves up front, tube shocks in back with the Cal-Trac traction bars... she drives and handles quite nicely! (I would add the rear sway bar I have to improve it, but have not gotten around to adding the mounts to the Dana, yet)By the way - anyone who wants traction/anti-hop bars for their MGB can now get them from Ca

Replaced the front pic with the hood fully closed - Thanks for the catch Glenn! :-) Best 0-60 times, per my iPhone app, are between 4-5 seconds, depending on 1 or 2 passengers and if the electric exhaust cut-outs are open or closed.

How many miles on the new drive train and can the car be a daily driver?

Miles on new drive train is now at 13220, and increasing as I do use it every day it is nice out. It has not seen rain or snow since the rebuild. Yes it can be used as a daily driver (like I have been for the past 6 weeks and plan to this coming week as well - weather in CT has been spectacular lately)

is it "balls fast"?

Comment by Bill Zenkus
Yep, it's quick, comparable to stock C5 Vette, up to 110 with top down, or 125 with the hard top on... (See my comment above 0-60 times of 4-5 seconds...)
