Strange looking MG to me. Nice if it is ordered this way. Have never seen a Black MG. Another thing that stands out is the side marker lights. Anyone else or is it just me?

Hi Ed, funny you said that. I cannot find my color code on the car. I was told by the original owner that it was special ordered in black. Is there any way I can confirm that??

Sure. Look deep under the dashboard on the frame. There will always be a bit of original color that will not get covered. May have been a real early repaint by a buyer who liked black. The photo looks a little dull. Back then they had Lacquer paints and straight enamel. No acrylics. The lacquer's needed polishing to get it shiny. Enamel's dried slower and came glossy. Take a look at my 1970 pics you can see the marker lights are not at all like yours. No lights on mine just holes where they go.

Another thought is a dealer could have done this for a customer. It would explain the marker lights as well as it was required for dealer sale. Could have installed them at the same time. I think the paint code is part of the serial number.
