Hi Greg... You've got a beauty right there! I'm hoping ours will shine like that after a
fresh paint job! How about a few more pctures? Enjoy Scarlet!!

"An early retirement gift" my dear wife said... "while you can still get in and out of it" :-). On principle, I refuse to go to a smaller steering wheel!

Greg,
Thank you for noticing my 1963 MGB. I really have one of the rare ones because of the 1962 Nov.build date.
I really like your MGA. I know it's hard to get in and out, but that is the character of it. What a beauty it is. My Brother-in-Law bought a new 1959 Twin Cam in red. That's the year I fell in love with the MGA.

Great looking "A". I have a 62 MKII. Noticed your front marker frame. Wondering where you
got it. Moved to VA and have to attach a from registration plate.

Hey Fred, that's a beautiful Mk II you have there. Don't know what your weather is like in Virginia right now, but we've still got a foot of snow on the ground here, and five feet of it either side of our driveway. Itching to get the MGA out of storage!!! At least another month, I guess.
The plate frame was made by a friend of the fellow we bought the car from... a metal fabricator. It'll outlast the car. Sorry, not a catalogue item! The pic of my wife and the car and I was taken the day we bought it... Oct 31 2011

Nice looking 61. My first car was a 1961 MGA in red. Still wish I had her!!!

Thanks, Bob... we love her dearly, she's such a character! Mechanically A-1, but paint about 25 years old, and cheap to begin with. She's going in for taking apart and good paint job this winter. Problem is, it's hard to get a good opinion about what comes closest to the original Chariot red.

Our car is in the body shop now, and will be finished roughly by the end of February 2014. Turns out (after extensive research) that the closest modern paint to the original Chariot Red is 2009 Audi TT "Brilliant Red". That's what we're going with.

Very nice! I just registered my MGA which could be a twin to yours. Mine is an early 1600 in Chariot red w/wire wheels, too. Many say a red 1600 with wire wheels is one of the most desired MGAs. Mine went through a very major refurb last year. Don't ever sell!

Hi Kevin... good to hear from you all the way from Mt Vernon, Wash. Probably you usually have more moderate weather there than here in Southern Ontario Canada, so maybe your driving season is a bit longer. Your MGA looks scrumptious... very fresh and new looking! Ours just came out of the paint shop 2 weeks ago, and looks like a million bucks! I need to post a couple of new pictures, with her new paint and badge bar and other stuff :-). My wife and I finally went with the suggested "nearest possible substitute" for Chariot red, since lacquer is no longer used in this part of the world. So... our Scarlet is 2009 Audi TT Brilliant Red... redder than red!

Hi Greg-It is always amazing to soak in the transformation of a nice new paint job on the old buggy. You are better off without lacquer as it is brittle and chips easily. The newer paints are much better. I went with Tartan Red which is an early MGB color. Still need to polish her out. Winters are not harsh here, but there is far too much rain. A dry weekend is a gift. Even in the summer. Put some more pics up when you can. I'll be adding to mine, too.
