Unknown Owner's 1960 MG MGA

For sale is my 1960 MGA 1600 Mark I Roadster, chassis number GHNL/92226. It is registered as a 1962, but the car was built in May 1960. The odometer reads 73157 (unknown if correct). I’ve driven it less than 1000 miles since purchasing the car in 2015. Most of those miles were a 400 mile round trip to Stowe, VT. The car is a good driver. I have owned the car 5 years and am selling as I need to thin the herd – too many cars, not enough time.

The car was refurbished in the late 1990’s by the previous owner. It has a later 1622cc motor which was rebuilt in 1996. During the motor rebuild it was bored out +.020 and the head was reconditioned. Stellite exhaust seats were added. The transmission was also rebuilt in 1996. At some point the car was painted red. The color was originally Dove Grey. A British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate is included with the car. The soft top is in very good condition. The seats are vinyl. Included are a good tonneau cover, side curtains, factory service manual and NAMGAR plaque. Tires are Michelin XZX 165SRx15.

Upgrades include a spin-on oil filter, oil cooler, front roll bar, Mallory distributor, and high torque starter. Since purchasing the car I have (amongst other things):
- added a spare tire cover
- replaced the front brake pads and rotors
- replaced the front hub bearings and seals
- replaced the map light switch
- replaced all radiator hoses
- replaced aftermarket fuel pump with a solid state SU pump
- installed new brake master cylinder
- installed new tie rod ends
- replaced rear inner hubs and bearings (NOS)
- replaced rear pinion seal
- replaced carb seals, washers and gaskets
- installed new accelerator cable

Body and frame are generally in good condition. Appears there have been older repairs to the fame, and a section the front of the right spring shackle and the seat channels have some rust. The steering is a bit heavy.

The car is supposed have been originally sold at Morris Garage in Maryland, NY, an early MG and Austin Healey dealer in upstate New York. The car may have had a competition history as it has two unusual features: traction bars have been added, and it has a well-designed air scoop built into the backing plate of the right rear brake.

A folder of receipts covering the previous owner’s and my expenses is included. Further information provided upon request. Cash or cashier’s check.
