V.A.Y. Special in 1958 - Back in the Day
“V.A.Y. Special”
Unique One-Off Sports Racer:
The V.A.Y. Special was the Canada Class Champion in 1958 and 1959 driven by Vic Yachuk (V.A.Y. are Vic’s initials). It features a tube frame chassis, aluminum body with fiberglass nose and tail, Morris Minor suspension, 948-cc, 4 cylinder, BMC A-Series engine, single Weber DCOE sidedraft carb, 4 speed transmission, and MGA 10 inches drums all corners.
The V.A.Y. Special was discovered, restored and raced by Toronto-based Mike Rosen in the 90’s. It has been maintained in top condition and raced in California since 2008 by the current owner. Raced in the Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Sonoma Historics, and Coronado last four years. CSRG accepted. See the February, 2010 issue of Vintage Racecar for full history and driving impressions.
