Well, Dave... Maybe because I am not real Cyclekartistes? So - no concurrence, no jealousy, no competition? Maybe I still didn't become old, grumpy pensioner - juts old? Your Maserati is one of the best designed and made scaled-down replicas of GP racing cars and in the hardest way - model from the early fifties with bumpy curves and so on. Of course, even I was active Cyclekartistes, I would say the same about your masterpiece, the same as for many other presented here in our CK-Club and elsewhere around our CK-World. However, maybe other members simply didn't notice your project shown here in Register, or maybe they are too busy designing and building their own? For sure, I wouldn't even try to accomplish such quality of design and construction. Without that famous "nose", it reminds me of many Junior-Formula racing cars from the early sixties, especially with such motorcycle-type wheels... Even the size is similar. Many serious or less serious automobile manufacturers made their Junior racers, including DA

... including DAF, Wartburg, SAAB, DKW, Skoda, BMW. FIAt... Besides such factory teams, there were a lot of one-off creations, using various combinations of chassis, suspension, power and hand-made body. Your CK looks to me close by size to them - watching their aces in my old Yugoslavia. However, the most important is that your Maserati is a close replica to original, especially without a pilot inside. My very Best Regards! Ciao, Zoran

Thanks again, Zoran.Your opinion means a lot to me. Yes. I already have my eye on some "14 wheels and 14x3.5 tires! But I would be alone running on them at this point. Maybe some day!

Thanks Denny. It's seemed like a long 2 years since I was essentially dared at Tieton to build this thing, but here we finally are. Can't wait to turn it loose!

It do take a while once you start working outside and beyond the basic Stevenson concept. I felt with my background that I had to go a step further with my build and it's turned into a CycleCar instead of a CycleKart. I'm four years into the idea and three into the construction. But in the process I'm acquiring many new tools and new skills, and that's really what keeps me interested in this hobby. dg

It do indeed!I'm usually one of the first to recommend the easier and quicker path to new builders, but is that what I did? Of course not. I do still think its wise for a guy without much industrial experience. A think person with useful skills should feel free to use them. I stuck with what I knew, which obviously saves a lot of time over learning new stuff.

Talking about well earned, your Maserati looks awesome. Someday, we have to have a photo-op with the Alfa. Hell, all four of our karts would be cool in a pic.

Thank you Steven! The 1950s f1 cars are my favorite as well. Traditionally, we don't really build from plans, as much as a rough set of measurements. They end up being about 75% scale using about a 66" wheelbase, and 39" track. No rear suspension is necessary, and the front suspension can be very simple. Study the many builds you see here. If you decide to go for it, PM me and I'll go into more detail.

Dave, My hobby has always been to restore (old) cars and motorcycles. Now, retired and living in Spain (Cantabria), I think about designing and building a CycleKart, based on what you learn here on this site. Its design, somewhat unconventional by some standard described here, is very good, for the construction of this car's elegant curves and, certainly, for the mechanical construction. Happy birthday.
