After much deliberations on what to build and how to build it I have cast off notions of the Bugatti Type 35 and the `26 Delage. Instead I came back to the old 1927 Ford Model T roadster. The simplicity and beauty of the machine is undeniable and I can not see myself building anything else my first time around. My dilemma now is whether to build it as a hotrod, track car, speedster or a faded old patina. They all have their appeal and I suppose I will decide once I am further down the line.
This is a simple first build cyclekart based on the Bugatti Type 35. The lines have been simplified in deign as I have not much experience in building complex curved body panels.
The original plan was to build the 27 model t track-nosed roadster first but I decided to hold off on it until I can get a little experience under my belt.

I have decided the 1924 Mercury body Ford Model T will be my first kart. For this I needed a curved frame, but did not have access to bender. So I cut slots into 3 sides of the frame in a process known as kerf cutting and bent it that way and welded the gaps together again.
It may not be the prettiest way to do it, but at least I did it and am on the path to a driving chassis.

My motor mount slings the motor deck 4.5 inches below the axle in a mid engine configuration. I am hoping for ultra low center of gravity numbers.
I have bolted the "cradle" rather than welded so I may easily drop the whole engine out with ease. Time will tell if this is a good idea or not.
